Electronic artist Avro, known for their blend of synth pop, new wave, and post-punk, announce the release of their haunting new single “Psychopathé” on October 17. The track is a chilling yet seductive ode to the vivid and unsettling world of Italian Giallo cinema.
With shimmering synths, pulsing basslines, and a shadowy vocal delivery, “Psychopathé” evokes the sensation of falling in love with a luminous film screen protagonist—while remaining blind to the unknown darkness of the theatre surrounding the audience. “I’ve been a long time fan of Giallo films—the intense colors, the shadows and contrast, and the surreal mashup of sex and danger colliding on a screen, I think make these more than just horror films.” says Adam Percy, now the solo songwriter and performer for Avro.
“They’re a dark but modern fantasy rooted in their time. For me watching them, it's easy to get lost in images, and miss out on what’s happening around you as a result; that’s part of the terror and the joy. I was definitely channeling this idea a bit while writing this song.“
The track’s lyrics weave a narrative of loneliness, delusion, and fleeting connection, only breaking past the danger of the silver wall to declare “Dance my love! It’s only fantasy.”

Along with the single, Avro is also releasing two exclusive remixes of the track:
